LaTanya Bell is in her 26th year as a choir director where she spent 19 years teaching Middle School.  Seven years ago, she had the distinct honor of opening the 4th High School in Pflugerville ISD, Weiss, where they now serve 9th through 12th graders.  Under her direction, her choirs have set new records with UIL Evaluation and have doubled the choir membership. The choirs are award-winning ensembles, continuous recipients of Sweepstakes honors and always have a large amount of students representing at the Region Choir Clinic and Concert.

Originally from Edinburg, TX (Rio Grande Valley), she was blessed to have such fine choir directors all throughout school that inspired her.  Since she was in 1st grade, LaTanya knew she wanted to be a teacher.  As a member of the 1992 All-State Mixed Choir, LaTanya knew then that music was her calling and wanted to give back the love of music she received as a student.  Graduating from the University of Texas-Pan American (currently known as UT-RGV) with a major in Choral Music.

LaTanya had the honor to work with Drs. Christopher and Vivian Munn, choral director and vocal instructor. Once she graduated, LaTanya was invited to be the guest soloist for the Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorale's Christmas major works concert featuring El Pessebre by Casals which was under the direction of the late Dr. Carl Seale.

LaTanya is an active adjudicator, conductor and clinician across Texas.  Her professional affiliations are Texas Choral Directors Association, Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Music Adjudicator Association.

Ms. Bell is proud of the Weiss HS 2022-23 Members of the Treble Choirs that received Sweepstakes and the Varsity Mixed receiving Sweepstakes which was their first time as a 6A High School at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation.

LaTanya is the mother of 3 boys, Anthony and 8 year old identical twin boys, Bradley and Maxwell, who will begin second grade this school year.  When LaTanya and Derrick aren’t busy chasing their twins, she enjoys spending time playing the piano, writing music, watching a good movie and visiting with family and friends.
